1. Impact and timelines

Between 11:39 AM and 2:09 PM UTC on 27 March, 2024, some REST API GET queries were returning incorrect data to clients.

The timeline for this incident is detailed below:
11:39 AM UTC: As part of our constant system upgrades, changes were made to some of our content delivery networks (CDN).
11:50 AM UTC: Our engineering team was made aware that some REST API GET queries were returning erroneous data as a result of the above configuration changes and started troubleshooting.
2:09 PM UTC: The issue was resolved.

2. What caused this disruption?

The configuration changes made in one of the CDNs led to unexpected caching issues in the CDN service. This led to the CDN service returning incorrect data to users instead of current data.
